Khong Van Minh is a seasoned investment professional with over 20 years of experiences in investment management, financial services and capital markets in Vietnam. His experiences accumulated from working for various domestic and international financial institutions and investment funds in different functions overtime.
The most recent, Minh is Investment Director of Jaccar Fund, a Private Equity Fund focusing on leading privatized SOEs and private JSCs in Vietnam. Funds under his management include the Jaccar Capital Fund, the Vietnam Century Fund, and the Vietnam Opportunity Growth Fund. As Investment Director, Minh is responsible for the entire investment process: deal sourcing/origination, execution, due diligence, making the business case to the Investment Committee, negotiation, closure, monitoring, value creation/enhancement and exit. His portfolio value at US$300m include both listed companies (e.g. CII, DPM, HAG, PVS, VCG, VNM, SAB, …) and non-listed companies (e.g. Agrex Saigon, Hiep Phuoc IP JSC, My Lan Group,…) operating in a wide range of sectors such as F&B, oil & gas, logistic, infrastructure, real estate, industrials… In addition, since 2020, Minh took part in FiinRating as expertise contracted Rating Committee member.
Before that Minh worked as Senior Investment Analyst for Manulife Vietnam where he was in charge of financial investment and portfolio management. Before his tenure at Manulife, Minh has worked in managerial positions in charge of financial investment at different institutions including at BIDV where he substantially involved in FX trading and money markets operations.
With background in economics mathematics, Minh is very good at mathematics and financial engineering. He has a very good sense of business and of the people. He is decisive, risk taking, analytical but self-disciplined, determined and prudent. He is also known to be self-motivated, hard-working and has good teamwork spirit. He considers himself as an “investor activist” who has been tirelessly and diligently promoting good practices on integrity and corporate governance at investees companies. He is keen to challenge the “status quo” with the view to change the perception in good faith and ultimately create greater value for shareholders/investors.
Not only keeping himself abreast with key political and economic developments in Vietnam, Minh also tries to make sense of these developments and their implications to business. Minh is fully up to date with policies development in the Vietnam financial sector and capital markets as well as regulations of the stock exchanges (HOSE and HNX).
